ALISHA'S ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Alisha Smith, also known as The Colourist, is a self-taught Barbadian artist, designer and creative entrepreneur on a mission to inspire, celebrate and transform through the power of colour and the beauty ubiquitous in nature. She brings her vision to life through meaningful art and handcrafted products that bring joy, resonate with people and elevate everyday experiences. Over the last decade, Alisha has had the honour of working with various clients both local and abroad, to transform their living and work spaces with her artwork. Her works can also be viewed at various art galleries across the island.

Her latest collection of paintings, 'Becoming' is a heartfelt series celebrating women’s journey of growth and self-discovery. Each piece captures the beauty, grace, femininity and resilience of women as they find themselves and blossom in a world that often challenges them.

This collection is an homage to the feminine experience through vivid imagery of women, birds and flowers, that symbolizes growth, freedom, and the vibrancy of life.

Alisha’s artistic journey began at just 14 years old with colored pencils, earning her multiple Gold Awards at NIFCA and a nomination for the The Prime Minister’s Award for her stunning portrait drawing of Rihanna. Last year in 2024, she successfully completed a large-scale portrait of Barbadian art icon Ivan Payne, commissioned by the National Cultural Foundation. Today, Alisha continues to create personalized portraits on commission basis, crafting timeless heirloom pieces that capture the essence of loved ones, meant to be treasured for generations. She also has a dedicated pet portrait offering called Fur-Ever & Always, where she creates artwork of beloved pets so they can be cherished forever.

This year Alisha is thrilled to launch Angelene Barbados, a new brand, offering premium creative products and wearable art, designed to embody feminine elegance and authentic self-expression and crafted to help women curate moments of colour and joy.
